The Service of Light:The atmosphere in the church is different: the holy water fonts are drained, all the lights are out, the tabernacle is empty. The service begins at the back of the church. A new fire is lit and blessed. A Paschal Candle.
The Blessing of the Water: When the priest inserts the candle in the water and pulls it out and lifts it up, we experience the ritual that announces the meaning of our baptism into these waters.
